Guitar for Sale [06 Jul 2007|01:49am]
Hey guys,

I'm just wondering if anyone wants, or know someone who wants, an electric acoustic guitar.

I have an Ibanez GAX70 that I need to sell as the cost for school this fall is higher than I anticipated.

Anywho, I'm selling the guitar, an amp, and a stand, together for about $225. If you know someone who might be interested please pass along the message. Going back to school this fall is very important to me. ^^ I've never really used it, it's a little dusty but otherwise in perfect condition. It looks like:

The Seven Wonders of Canada [08 Jun 2007|05:01am]
The Seven Wonders of Canada have been named.
There where 52 Nominees, and a group of judges has painstakingly managed to reduce it to just 7.

You can check them out here. http://www.cbc.ca/sevenwonders/index.html

I think I agree with most of the wonders, the only one I'm kinda "bleh" about is the Igloo. I think that the Inuksuk would have been a better choice to represent the North personally. You decide for yourself. =)

Looking over _most_ of the nominees (Montreal Bagel wtf) makes my heart swell with pride. Especially when you look at places like Pier 21.

So what if we're European, Asian, or Indian by our roots, further back we're all African, does that mean we should all get in touch with our tribal roots? No. This land is vast, untamed, and beautiful. It's my home, and I'm proud to live here. We may not be an old culture, in fact we're one of the youngest, but we've done so much in such a short amount of time. We're the land of intuitive, brave, and artistic people. We have our problems, all nations do, but we can solve our problems together.

Oh Canada. =)

I just <3 this song. This'd be the original, Josh Groban did a cover, but ya... Josh Groban inferior, Don Mclean superior!

There's something so incredibly simplistic and beautiful about Regina Spektor's music. I wish she'd visit here some time. I suppose if she ever visits the Vancouver area again I'll have to fly out just for it.

Fair-Trade Clothes [04 Apr 2007|05:27pm]
I'm finding it incredibly hard to find free-trade clothes, even online. This is going to be hard. I think I'm going to get more into sewing and start making my own clothes.

You might say "But what about the fabric, it's just as bad"! I intend to use California cotton fabrics for now until I can find other places to buy fabric that doesn't contribute to the degrading work conditions of other humans.

I never want to "Benefit" from another person's loss. Not that I concider a $75 pair of pants much of a benefit to me the consumer. If anything it just goes to line the wallets of the corporations.

Recent Ambitions [26 Mar 2007|06:06pm]
So lately I've been really inspired creatively. However I have not tempered any talent. My writing is decent, though sloppy and often uninspired.

But I've decided to start being more creative and get into some of the artistic sectors I'd like to be in. I just bought a new camera about 6 weeks ago and yet I've not done much with it yet. I would however like to use it to begin developing some photographic abilities. There are two reasons I didn't buy an SLR. One, I'm sure in a year or two the standards will have changed for digital SLR, and secondly, I'm what most would call a newb.

So I'm going to take this decently expensive piece of equipment and start using it. Developing my own photographic style, and hopefully it goes somewhere for me in that aspect.

There are two other major things I would like to do, and at the moment they both run hand in hand. The first thing I'd like to do is start a not for profit organization to basically go out and do good. I got the idea from a group that resides in Victoria and goes out to assist persons by doing odd jobs for free, as well as perform random acts of kindness. Everything and Anything to make the lives of others better.

This is the most ambitious of the three things, as it requires me to take a lot of financial burden which I probably can't take at this time, as well as time which I've been semi-lacking in lately. I think that the best thing I can do to relieve this is the obvious reason for making it a not for profit organization. Helping hands and donations. The more people I can get in on it the better. We will see where this goes as I make progress with it and conjure up ideas for making it work.

The last ambition? Write a novel, and at the moment I'd like to write something inspirational. What better than to write about the power of making others feel good? If a simple smile can change a person's day, just imagine what can be accomplished with a little muscle and money? The options are infinite.

Any who, I'll post more about my organization idea in the future when I have something more substantial, but for now it is a dream which I want to make real and solid.

Bday Update [26 Mar 2007|01:07pm]
Looks like Death By Chocolate is a no go. They only have it on certain nights of the week, and Sunday isn't one of them. So... now I have no idea what to do for my birthday.

ARGH. I wish I knew what to do, but my mind is blank, and I don't know what I want to do. There's not much that is epic here in Calgary. I want to do something where I can just hang out, and while I'd say my house I don't want to disturb the baby.

Maybe just an old fashioned BBQ somewhere to hang out with friends. I think I'd like that. It's less epic than Death By Chocolate, but it's not so much about what I'm doing, but who I'm doing it with, and so long as I have good company I'm fine.

Maybe we can all go eat some-where and then play bored games. I dunno.

Ideas? Halp. D;

Ok, so the date for the party will be the 1st of April it'd seem as I've already been booked for the 31st at work and didn't know about it.

WTF LJ edited my post... anywho I'm thinking of doing Death By Chocolate as Mike has suggested. I'll post more info as it is available. IE... I'll talk to Mike, and then see what Death By Chocolate is all about and try to make reservations.

[26 Feb 2007|01:21pm]
While my birthday is still like a month away, I'd just like to take this time to say that I really need a new DDR pad, and while it might be too much to ask for a metal pad... I would really like one. XD I hate the fact that my current pad slides around the floor. I can have perfect timing, but I end up failing all the hard songs because the pad moves from under me so I start hitting wrong buttons. =/

I'm not sure how one would fix that problem with a normal pad but a metal one would rock for that reason.

But even if it's not metal I need a new pad. My old pad, after like 2-3 years of use is finally starting to die on me.

Anywho. ^^ Off I go.

P.S. My new job starts tomorrow. Mike we should totally hang out on our breaks. We can be the two-some of terror.

FFS Hostel... [21 Jan 2007|06:47am]
[ mood | angry ]

So yesterday I finally saw Hostel.

Now I wouldn't be writing this post, but while doing my rounds on various movie preview sites, I noticed that there is going to be a sequel to this movie.

You can probably already tell by how I opened this post that this is going to be a rant, and you'd be correct.

What warrants a sequel. In hostel's case, it'd be the fact that it made a bit of money in the box office and has absolutely no substance. Personally I'm not sure how it made so much money because it was the worst garbage I've ever seen. There was nothing profound about the movie, contrary to what some critics say, and there was no "Look into the dark side of human nature."

In case you haven't seen the movie, which I suggest you don't, it's about a Torture House near Amsterdam where people can pay money to have tourists tied up so that they can brutally torture and dismember them.

Now I’m all for pointless gore in movies as long as it’s satisfying to some extent. If you put gore in a movie it needs to be either A. Fun, or B. serve as a plot element. But Hostel seems to do neither. Nothing in the movie is satisfying to any sort of degree, and a lot of the so called plot is pointless. Character development begins, and is then severed halfway before there can be any sort of transcendence. Characters are thrown onto the screen given some sort of minimal story, and just when you think they’re going to build on something, they kill off the character.

I watched this movie just after watching the poorly reviewed “The Cave” about a first class diving team which enters a Cave in Europe which is inhabited by creatures. I would have rated this movie on the same level as The Cave is there was some sort of satisfaction received from watching this movie. But in truth Hostel is like receiving head from an angry hooker with STDs who bites your dick and tells you it’s foreplay. I actually received more satisfaction from The Cave than I’ll ever receive from Hostel, which is incredibly sad to say the least.

I hope that no one goes to see the sequel and it bombs in the box office reviews.

Also after this movie I’m almost a firm believer of the Eugenics program. Except I think it should be exclusively for writing teams. Remove them from the gene pool so that we might look forward to a future of better movies.

Retro [07 Sep 2006|07:09am]
[ mood | chipper ]

So these past 2 days I've been downloading old SNES roms. It's really cool going back and looking at the games which have influenced generations of games after them.

I really enjoyed playing Clock Tower and it has re-sparked my lust for Survival Horror games. I actually didn't know the game existed when I stumbled apon it.

I know of Clock Tower 3m and as it is a PS2 game, I assumed that the original would be a PSX game.

Turns out that the original wasn't released in North America? So Clock Tower(PSX) here, is Clock Tower 2 in Japan.

Anyways, it has an awesome story, and I can see where alot of video games come from now. Bleeding paintings, flickering T.V.s, and blowing curtains aren't uncommon. But the game is also one of the first to ad the "Stalker" element which is now trendy. A young boy weirlding a pair of sheers follows you around the mansion. It is also one of the first games to ever feature multiple endings. This old time SNES game hosts 9 endings... that's more than almost every modern game other than other clock tower games, (Clock tower 2(US) appearantly has 12 endings?).

The old SNES game was more original and felt more unique than alot of new games. =d Sad I think.

Another game I enjoyed playing was Metal Gear. This game is just fun to play, especially because it was poorly translated from Japanese to English. Qoutes like "I Feel Asleep!!" and "Uh oh! The truck have started to move!" make it totally worth while. All the bosses have terribly corny names, and there are some continuity errors. But it was a blast to play.

There are still more games up to play. I need to find Prince of Persia for sure.

Any other reccomendations? Are there any other SNES horror titles? If so, that'd be bithing...

P.S.... The Original Resident Evil, was an RPG on the NES. ROFL
